IOM Organizes Study Visit to Poland

01.12.2014 | Filed under: Press / News Releases, Prevention and tagged with: Human Trafficking

Study Visit to Poland On 24-27 November IOM Minsk organized a study visit to Poland with the participation of NGO representatives: Belarus Red Cross Society, PA “Business Women Club” of Brest city, PA “Business Women Club South-West” of Pinsk city, PA “Business Women Club “Bona” of Kobrin city, Smorgon branch of PA “Belarusian Association of Young Christian Women”.

The Polish colleagues shared with Belarusian delegates their experience and best practices in the sphere of counter-trafficking, touching upon national referral mechanism, procedures of VoTs’ assistance provision, approaches and new tendencies. The visitors also visited the shelter for VoTs, which is a good example of successfully functioning state sub-contraction system. Belarusian colleagues got an insight into the structure and work of the Inter-ministerial Team on Counter-Trafficking issues.

The study visit was not only a good opportunity to learn best practices and further apply them at the national level where possible but to establish working contacts with the Polish colleagues: representatives of the Ministry of the Interior, Police Headquarter, Labour Inspectorate, Boarder Guard Office, Prosecutor’s General Office and La Strada.

The event was organized with support of USAID.
