IOM Minsk Organizes Trainings for Specialists of Labour, Social Protection and Employment Departments
In 2015 IOM Minsk organized a series of trainings aimed at raising awareness of human trafficking issues among specialist of departments on labour, social protection and employment. The trainings took place in the regions of Belarus.
The main purpose of the trainings was two enhance knowledge of human trafficking issues of the above-mentioned specialists who consult beneficiaries on the issues of employment, human trafficking, safe employment abroad. Moreover, among other goals of the trainings was to enhance specialists’ knowledge on consultancy on how to pass a job interview successfully.
The trainings’ experts were specialists of the Ministries of the Interior, Labour and Social Protection, Taxes and Levies, who cover accordingly issues of labor migration and human trafficking; legislation on employment, entrepreneurship and craft activities. Besides, coordinators of job seeking trainings were also invited as experts to present activities aimed at awareness raising of human trafficking and safe employment that are being carried out in the Republic of Belarus.
Taking into consideration the fact that experts represented different agencies carrying out certain activities in the counter-trafficking area, one of the advantages of trainings was inter-agency approach. Participation of partner-NGOs allowed to raise issues of cooperation between civil society and governmental agencies in the social area.
Knowledge and skills that participants gained upon completion of the trainings, will contribute to decrease in number of cases of human trafficking, as well as to more effective identification of victims of human trafficking and provision of timely assistance to them.
Trainings were organized by the International Organization for Migration in the Republic of Belarus with support of USAID (U.S. Agency for International Development).
