Mogilev Hosts Regular Meeting of Multidisciplinary Group

IMG_1578A regular consecutive meeting of the multidisciplinary group (MDG) responsible for identification, referral and reintegration of victims of trafficking took place in Mogilev on the first of March 2016.

The main issues discussed during the meeting were the situation in the field of CT in Mogilev oblast, amendments in the CT National Legislation, operation of MDG within the framework of the New Resolution of the Council of Ministers № 485. The chairperson of Mogilev oblast Red Cross organization pointed out the necessity to organize practical trainings of the representatives of MDG for implementation of the CoM Resolution for the purpose of better understanding of the procedure of operation (both state and non-state actors of MDG) when identifying, referring and assisting VoTs.

During the meeting all the representatives of MDG were provided documents prepared within the framework of the International Technical Assistance Project “Strengthening the national capacity of the Republic of Belarus in the sphere of counter trafficking.”
– «Guidance on strengthening and promotion of National Referral Mechanism in the Republic of Belarus”
– «Standard operational procedures» on identification, referral and assistance to VoTs”.
– «National Legislative acts in the sphere of counter trafficking – correspondence to international norms».

Besides each MDG participant received a manual on working with VoTs.

During the meeting the priorities for the year 2016 were set up, particularly, enhancing of prevention activities, more active participation of state agencies in rendering assistance to VoTs, perspective joint initiatives on creation resource centers for provision of legal assistance to stranded Belarusian migrants in Russian Federation. It was also decided to activate cooperation with local TV channels to increase awareness of Belarus citizens about the risks of trafficking in human beings and its consequences as well as to prevent labor exploitation.
