Video-control system is to be launched at the Belarusian-Ukrainian Border

18.09.2017 | Filed under: Articles and tagged with: Border and Immigration Control

Since 4 April 2017, IOM Missions in Belarus and Ukraine jointly with the customs services of these countries have been implementing the EU-funded project IVCO – Introduction of an automated intelligent video-control system at the road border crossing point Novaya Huta – Novi Yarylovychi at the Belarus-Ukraine frontier.

The project implementation is a build up to the PRINEX system* – the pre-arrival customs information exchange system on goods cross-border movement. The purpose of the project is to contribute to legal trade and increase effectiveness of customs procedures at the border check point Novaya Huta – Novi Yarylovychi through enhancement of the pre-arrival information processing capacity, which will lead to reduced border crossing time. The project is supposed to be beneficial for commercial cargo carriers, drivers crossing the border between the Republic of Belarus and Ukraine, private entrepreneurs, small businesses, and local population living in the border area.

Therefore, the project implementation implies the launch of the intelligent video-control system and training for customs representative on how to utilize the system.

On 15 September 2017 in Minsk all the project participants gathered at the Steering Committee meeting to discuss the process of the project implementation during the initial phase as well as to come up with the action plan on further activities to ensure the completion of project objectives.

More details on the project is here.
*More details about PRINEX system here.
